Generative AI Insight Summaries (Beta)

AI Insights Summaries assist users in assessing an article’s relevance to their research by providing a new button in the result list. This feature uses Generative AI to create on-demand summaries of 2-5 key points, based on the full text of the article. An AI Insight is grounded in the full-text of the article.

Detail Page Table Of Contents Enhancement

Natural Language Understanding (Beta)

Allows for searching in the researcher’s regularly spoken language, including questions, by using AI to better understand the user’s query intent and produce an academic search accordingly.  The underlying search technology leverages our relevance ranking, thesauri mapping via the USI and authoritative metadata.  Natural language search is intended to help increase equity in research allowing anyone, regardless of their background, experience in research, or what they speak, can find information through our search.  Initially, this will be via a new separate Search Mode. 

Enhanced Package Metadata and Customizations

EBSCO’s Global Knowledgebase is being populated with new managed package descriptions, alternate package names, package subjects and package level URLs that will be visible in Holdings Management (descriptions and alternate names will be searchable). Additionally, HLM Administrators will be able to enter custom descriptions for packages, add custom display names and custom alternate names for packages, affiliate additional managed subject headings to packages and add package URLs to custom packages.

Customize Publications Label

Library administrators will have the ability to customize the text of the Publications label that appears in the lefthand navigation pane under Research Tools on EBSCO Discovery Service, EBSCOhost, and Explora profiles

Publication Finder Offers Search & Browse of Databases in Addition to Publications

Publication Finder customers will have the ability to enable a new set of functionality (opt-in, this will not be enabled automatically) that offers users the ability to search and browse for selected and visible databases in addition to the currently offered publication search and browse. Catalog Only and Location Only Limiters will restrict search results to content within their custom catalogs and institutional repositories.​ The existing Location (LB) and Collection (GZ) limiters included content from the EBSCO Discovery Service index, but many EDS customers want these limiters to exclude any content not in their catalogs and IRs.​

Ability to Set Custom Note in All Supported Languages to Display to Patrons When They Place a Hold on Catalog Items

For libraries with FOLIO Patron Empowerment, librarians can configure a custom note to display to their patrons in the place hold modal. It is now possible to configure the custom note in multiple languages (all supported languages).

Customizable Ability to Hide Due Date from the Real Time Availability Check (RTAC) for Catalog Items

For libraries with RTAC (Real Time Availability Check) enabled for the catalog items, librarians can now choose whether to display the due date of catalog items that are currently on loan. The item due date displays in RTAC by default if an item is on loan. Librarians can use Configuration in EBSCO Experience Manager to hide the due date (note that EBSCO-hosted FOLIO libraries also have the option to display the due date but not hide the due date time).

Volume Information Displays in the Holds & Checkouts Dashboard

For libraries with FOLIO Patron Empowerment, patrons can now see the call number and volume information for items they have on hold or on loan. The call number and volume information now displays in My Dashboard for items that the patron has on loan or on hold, helping them to identify which volume they have on loan, especially if the title has multiple volumes, like in the case of serials.

New Limiters Available in EBSCOadmin

Ability to limit to HTML Only, PDF Only, and eBooks Only. These limiters are available for EBSCOhost and EDS customers, and they can be configured for profiles in EBSCOadmin along with the other standard limiters.
