Users with custom folders can safely migrate to the new user interface without worrying about losing access to their research. Download options will now be presented to personalized users on the new user interface allowing them to replicate their folder structure in Classic without losing their data

Custom Limiters

Library administrators can now create custom limiters according to field codes. The most popular custom limiters from the Classic UI will be pre-programmed and just need to be turned on

Ability to Set Custom Note in All Supported Languages to Display to Patrons When They Place a Hold on Catalog Items

For libraries with FOLIO Patron Empowerment, librarians can configure a custom note to display to their patrons in the place hold modal. It is now possible to configure the custom note in multiple languages (all supported languages).

Customize Publications Label

Library administrators now have the ability to customize the text of the Publications label that appears in the lefthand navigation pane under Research Tools on EBSCO Discovery Service, EBSCOhost, and Explora profiles. The default label is now Publication Finder.

EBSCO’s Global Knowledgebase is being populated with new managed package descriptions, alternate package names, package subjects, and package-level URLs that will be searchable in Holdings Management.  Additionally, Holdings Management Administrators will be able to create a custom package display name, add alternate package names and descriptions, and associate additional managed subjects to packages; users can also add package URLs to their custom packages.

Customizable Ability to Hide Due Date from the Real Time Availability Check (RTAC) for Catalog Items

December 2024

For libraries with RTAC (Real Time Availability Check) enabled for the catalog items, librarians can now choose whether to display the due date of catalog items that are currently on loan. The item due date displays in RTAC by default if an item is on loan. Librarians can use Configuration in EBSCO Experience Manager to hide the due date (note that EBSCO-hosted FOLIO libraries also have the option to display the due date but not hide the due date time).

Koha eResources API CustomLink

Streamline eResource access in Koha catalogs, especially in consortium environments. It dynamically verifies eResource availability for specific library sites and seamlessly inserts access links into the New UI’s “Access Options,” tailored by item type and library location code.

Search Modes and Expanders

July 2024

Search Modes and Expanders are now available on the New UI for EBSCOhost, EDS and Explora. They are located on the Advanced Search in a newly added tab called “Search Options”.  All existing EBSCOadmin configuration options selected by the customer are being honored:
– The customer’s default Search Mode
– The customer’s default Expander(s)
– Expander(s) selected for display on the interface 

New Business Searching Interface (BSI) Now Available

EBSCO’s new Business Searching Interface (BSI) offers a clean, modern look to
make business research more intuitive and efficient for Business Source subscribers. With improved navigation and a visually appealing design, the new BSI delivers a unique search experience. Students, faculty and researchers can easily browse leading business journals and magazines, search specific topics and easily locate country economic data, company profiles, industry information, and market research.

January-June 2025 will be an opt-in approach to customers. A full migration for all remaining customers will occur in early July 2025.

New Limiters for Catalogs & Institutional Repositories

January 2025

Catalog Only and Location Only Limiters will restrict search results to content within their custom catalogs and institutional repositories.​ The existing Location (LB) and Collection (GZ) limiters included content from the EBSCO Discovery Service index, but many EDS customers want these limiters to exclude any content not in their catalogs and IRs.​

Publication Finder Offers Search & Browse of Databases in Addition to Publications

February 2025

Publication Finder customers will have the ability to enable a new set of functionality (opt-in, this will not be enabled automatically) that offers users the ability to search and browse for selected and visible databases in addition to the currently offered publication search and browse. This will also tie into new functionality being made available in Holdings Management to set custom package Display Names, alternate package names and package/database descriptions.
